Prize competitions

Some projects have no token at all. You earn points from tasks, you rank on a leaderboard, and the top ranks win real prizes — cash or physical items, funded by the project before the season opens.

A competition looks like farming and scores like farming, but nothing converts at the end. There is no token, no claim window and no rate to watch. What decides whether you win is where you finish on the leaderboard when the season closes.

How you rank

  • Tasks pay points, exactly as they do on any project. Each task states its own points.
  • Invites do not pay points. A project may pay you cash for a qualifying invite — see Project invites and recruiting — but that money is separate from the leaderboard and cannot move your rank.
  • Nothing can be bought. Entry is free, and there is no way to pay for position.

What you can win

Every competition publishes its prizes before it opens — either a specific prize for each rank or band of ranks, or one pool split down a published curve. A prize is cash in one of the platform's prize currencies, or a named item that carries a cash value. Read it on the project page: it tells you exactly what finishing 4th is worth.

The prize is funded into a distribution contract on the chain before the season can open, so what you see on the page is money already committed, not a promise.

The minimum entrants

A competition can carry a minimum number of entrants. If the season closes below it, the competition is void and nobody wins — the project gets its prize money back and no farmer is charged anything. An entrant, for the floor, is a member who scored points in the season. The floor is shown in the published rules from the moment entry opens, and the page tells you whether the competition is going ahead.

When the season closes

Standings are final when the season closes, whether on time or early. The platform computes the awards once from the final leaderboard and pays every rank that was reached; prizes for ranks nobody reached are refunded to the promoter, never redistributed.

Getting your prize

  • The project is the promoter. DappFactory runs the mechanics and computes the result; it never holds the prize money, which pays out from the contract.
  • It pays to your linked wallet. An award for a farmer with no wallet linked is held until one is — link yours under My Profile before the season ends.
  • Large awards wait for tax information. An award worth $2,000 or more is held until the platform has recorded your tax details. Where required by law, you may need to provide them before a prize can be paid.
  • The season settles once nothing is held. Until then the platform can see why it is still open.

Payout history

Every project's payout record — what each past season paid, to how many, and when — is on the project page. It is counted from the awards themselves, so what you check before entering is the same record the promoter sees.

Keepsakes

Everyone who entered can claim a participation keepsake when the season closes, stamped with their rank and points, prize or no prize. Winners' keepsakes are durable on-chain assets. See Collectibles and keepsakes.
