Holder keys: what holding opens

Turn your collectibles, or DappFactory's, into a key for your project: a holders' board, holder-only tasks, season entry and a points boost.

Open NFT → Holder keys and pick a project. Each key is a card, and Save keys applies every change at once; farmers see it straight away. Project detail → Holders & perks lists the same keys and links back here.

What a key can open

  • A Holders board. In Forum config, set a project board's Who can see it to Holders and pick what opens it. Only holders can read the board and post in it; everyone else sees it locked, with what opens it. Its key is also shown, and can be changed, on Holder keys.
  • Holder-only tasks. One key for the project's holder-only tasks: tick the tasks it covers. Farmers without a key see those tasks locked and can't start or complete them.
  • Season entry. A key on the project's next or current season. While that season is upcoming or running, only holders can join the project, and while it runs, members without a key can't earn on its tasks.
  • The holder boost. See below.

Choosing what opens a key

Pick one or more templates or collections, from your own, from DappFactory's, or both. Holding a durable item from any of them opens the key. A template key covers every version of the template, and a retired template still counts for the items already minted from it. Free keepsakes are never durable items, so they never count.

Keys work before anything is minted: holders get access from the moment their first item arrives.

Who counts as a holder

DappFactory sets the rule every key follows, shown at the top of the page:

  • Any holder. Anyone who holds the item now, however they got it.
  • First owners only. Only the wallet that first received the item. An item bought second-hand never counts, even if a first owner buys it back.

When DappFactory lets businesses set their own rule, each card can follow DappFactory (the default) or pick one of the two for that key. Until then every key follows DappFactory.

Each card shows how many people hold an item that opens it, and how many of them bought theirs second-hand, so you can see who a first-owners rule would leave out.

The holder boost

A multiplier on the points for every task on the project, from ×1.05 up to the maximum DappFactory allows, for holders whose item counts. If DappFactory lowers its maximum, your boost is capped at it. You can pause the boost yourself. DappFactory decides which project types may have one, and can pause holder boosts across the platform; the card says so, and holders earn base points until it's lifted.

Selling mid-season. If a holder sells their item during a season, the points they already earned stay. The boost and any holder-only access stop from then on. Moving the item to another wallet, or selling it on another marketplace, counts the same way: DappFactory reads every item's holder from the chain about every 15 minutes, and access follows it.

Gating a collection or drop sale: Who can buy

A holder key can also sit on a sale. An NFT collection you sell by rarity, or a collectible drop, can open to holders of a collectible before anyone else, or to holders only — and DappFactory gates its own platform collections and drops the same way, for example opening a sale to holders of a DappFactory collectible first.

Where you set it, always under Rarity pricing on the form:

  • Projects → Create Project → NFT collection → Listing step, for a collection built from a marketplace template and sold by rarity.
  • NFT → Collectible templates → Drops → Publish a drop, for a numbered drop; Edit drop keeps it open to change until the drop opens.

Who can buy offers three settings:

  • Everyone. Any signed-in farmer with a wallet.
  • Holders first. Until a date you set, only holders of an item that opens the key can hold and mint a number; from that date, everyone. The usual choice: it rewards holders without closing the sale.
  • Holders only. Holders for the whole sale.

Pick what opens it the same way as any key — your templates or collections, or DappFactory's. Who counts follows DappFactory's holders rule. The check runs when a farmer holds a number and again at mint, so an item sold in between loses the access. The setting is fixed once the sale opens; a scheduled sale can still change it. A collection minted all at once has no sale, so it has nothing to gate — Who can buy needs Price by rarity on.

Farmers the sale keeps out see the same invitation as everywhere else: what opens it and a link to the marketplace; a counting holder sees open to you and buys as usual. Once published, the drop's page and the collection's sale card show the setting as a locked line — Holders of … first · everyone from … · who counts. The pages of the collections that open it list the sale under What holding unlocks.

What farmers see

A farmer without a key sees an invitation, never an error: what the key opens, what opens it, and Get one on the marketplace, which opens the NFT marketplace filtered to those templates or collections. Under a first-owners rule, a farmer whose item was bought second-hand is told it doesn't count here, and whose rule that is.

On the marketplace, every NFT item and collection page shows What holding unlocks: each board, holder-only task, season entry and holder boost an item from there opens on DappFactory's projects, so buyers know before they buy.

What a template opens

Open one of your collectible templates under NFT → Collectible templates to see What holders get: how many people hold an item from it, and every board, season entry, task and holder boost on your projects that it opens, directly or through a collection made from it.

DappFactory's Project Talk gate. When DappFactory gates viewing on all project Talk boards, your own Holders board keys are paused and DappFactory's key applies instead. Yours come back when the gate is switched off.
