Running a points competition
A community support project has no token. Farmers earn points from your tasks, rank on a leaderboard, and the top ranks win real prizes that you fund and the platform settles.

What a competition is
A community support project is a season of tasks with prizes at the end. Farmers join, complete the tasks you set and earn points; a leaderboard ranks them; when the season closes, the platform settles the prizes by rank. Points decide rank and rank decides who wins — nothing converts to tokens and there is no claiming step.
You are the promoter of record. DappFactory runs the competition and computes the winners, but the prize money is yours throughout: it sits in a vault on the chain until settlement and never passes through the platform.
The season
When you create the project you set the first season's campaign length, in hours, and optionally its start — leave the start blank and it begins the moment the season opens. The length goes into the official rules, so there is no default.
A season cannot open until the prize is funded (and, if you declared funded keepsakes, until their mint budget is paid); until then it reads starting soon. From the season card you can end a season early and schedule the next one when it closes. The leaderboard resets each season; the members stay.
Two ways to structure prizes
| Structure | How it works | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| By rank | Each rank or band of ranks gets its own prize — cash, or a named gadget. Bands cannot overlap. | Prizes differ in kind, not just size |
| Shared pool | One total, split down a curve of whole percentages that must come to exactly 100%. | You know the budget, not the shape |
A gadget still carries a cash value: that is what the vault is funded with, and a winner can take the cash instead. Prizes are paid in one of the platform's prize currencies, on the project's own network, fixed at creation — a devnet prize has no real value and cannot be paid to a mainnet wallet.

The participant floor
Minimum participants is your floor. Below it the season voids and every penny comes back to you: nobody is paid and nothing is owed. At or above it, every rank someone reached is paid, and the value of ranks nobody reached returns to you at settlement. Set it to 0 and there is no floor. Farmers see the floor before they enter, which is what makes it fair to enforce.
Funding the prize
Creating the project takes no money. Funding does: from the prize card you sign a transaction from your Fee payer wallet into the season's prize vault — a program on the chain, which you can rehearse on devnet. Refunds go back to the wallet that funded first.
Once any money is in the vault, the prize structure, the floor and the season's keepsake settings are fixed, because they appear in the rules farmers enter on. Tasks and the join settings stay editable.
Keepsake mints are paid separately, as a charge from the same wallet (see Keepsake NFTs and what they cost). Both must be paid before the season opens.
Official rules
The platform generates the official rules from your organisation's registered details — entity name, registration number and address — names it as promoter, states that DappFactory is the platform provider, and appends the no-purchase-necessary disclosure a prize competition must carry. You cannot edit the disclosure.
Your organisation must be verified before the rules can be previewed or published: an unverified name cannot be named as promoter. Until you publish, the rules are a live preview that follows your edits; publishing freezes them for good.
Payout history
Every season's settlement is recorded — how many winners, how many paid, when — and shown on your project page and on the farmer's page for the project, so entrants can see you have paid out before.
Invite reward
Optionally, pay cash for each qualifying invite from the Invite reward card on the project page. You fund a budget, separate from the prize pool, and set an amount per invite; the inviter is paid once their invitee has joined, completed the number of tasks you require, linked a Solana wallet, connected a social account and verified their email. Invites never earn points: points decide rank, and rank decides the money.
Awards of $2,000 or more
A winner of an award worth $2,000 or more must supply tax details before it is paid; the award is held until then. Every winner needs a linked wallet to be paid.
Launching a token afterwards
Once the competition has opened, Launch tokens on the project page opens the create form prefilled from this project. It creates a new project: the competition keeps running and is never converted.
