Running seasons

A project that awards points runs in seasons. A community project can run as many as you like, one at a time, each with its own window, prize and leaderboard; a token launch runs one, and its end fixes the conversion rate.

Every project that awards points has a season: the window in which tasks and bonus offers earn. A community project runs a campaign per season, with a prize settled at its end; a season token launch runs one season, and its end is when points become tokens.

The platform's scheduler drives the lifecycle. Nothing opens or closes by hand: a season opens when its start passes and closes when its end passes. Your controls are the schedule, the decision to stop early, and, on a community project, when the next season begins.

Where you manage it

On a community project the Competition window card shows the current season's name, start, end and countdown, the controls its state allows, and the past seasons beneath. On a season launch the Farming season card shows the same facts, and the Season conversion card beside it carries the rate.

The lifecycle

StateWhat it means
Opens soonScheduled. On a community project it stays here, however far past its start, until the prize is funded (and any keepsake budget is paid).
OpenFarming is live. The leaderboard moves; points accrue. A community project reads as live from the moment its first season opens.
ClosedThe end passed, or you ended it early. A community season settles its prize; a token season freezes its rate and opens claiming.

Only one season per project can be scheduled or open at a time.

What you can change, and when

Season stateWhat you can do
Opens soonEdit the start and the length freely, or cancel the season. Nobody has entered yet, so the terms are still yours.
OpenThe schedule is fixed. The closing date is published in the official rules that farmers entered on, and the prize behind it is funded. The only action is End early.
ClosedStart the next season (community projects).

The length is a whole number of hours, because it is published in the rules.

What ending early does

  • Before it opens — the season ends with nobody entered. A funded prize is returned to the funder when the season settles.
  • While it runs — the season closes now. Everyone keeps their standing. If the participation floor was met, the prize pays the ranks that were reached and the remainder is refunded to you; below the floor the season is void and everything comes back.

Settlement runs from the platform's worker; you do not trigger it.

Starting the next season

Once no season is live, Start Season N opens a short form:

  • Season name is optional and defaults to the number.
  • Starts is optional. Left blank, the season opens as soon as its prize is funded.
  • Campaign length is required, in whole hours, and is prefilled from the previous season.

A new season is a new campaign: every participant starts at zero points, and it needs its own prize and keepsakes set up and funded before it can open. Last season's standings stay in the history with the number and the dates it actually ran.

Seasons on a token launch

A community-season launch has exactly one season, set when you create the project. While it is live you can commit a payout share: the fraction of the season-end rate you will pay out. It can only be set before the season ends, so every farmer converts at one published number.

When the season ends the platform freezes the rate at the lower of your points ceiling and the airdrop allocation divided by the total points farmed, applies your share, and opens claiming. Nothing about the rate can change after that. A token project cannot run a second season: its rate is frozen against its mint. See Seasons, rates and claiming for the numbers.
